A Master Suite Makeover

Standing at the door looking into their cramped, dark bedroom and small bathroom, homeowners Bill and Suzanne wondered if they would ever get the peaceful retreat they desired. The couple wanted to encompass both living spaces into the master suite they always dreamed of enjoying.

They met with designer Meriwether McAdams in the fall of 2009 and discussed the couple’s wishes for an open and airy space with more light. The homeowners also wanted a larger dressing area with his and her walk-in-closets. But top on their wish list was a new master bathroom that would create an elegant spa like environment.

John and his team started by removing everything and taking the whole area down to the framing studs. The project needed to be built from scratch with painstaking attention to detail at every step. The remodeling work moved smoothly and finishing details were perfected through the close communication and collaborative efforts of John and Meriwether.

John frequently consulted with the homeowners as well, and they decided to add a new hot water heater for the master bathroom as well as update their air conditioning systems during the early stages of the renovation.

Communication was the key to a seamless completion of the couple’s new retreat. Everything went just as planned and the rejuvenated, remodeled master suite exceeded everyone’s expectations.

No More Cold Feet! Details Of The Renovation and Design

Some of the luxurious features added to the bathroom design that delighted the homeowners were a heated tile floor and a large, open travertine shower with glass walls. Body jets and a large rain head built into the shower were just what the Doctor ordered for tired muscles after a long day. The bathrooms clean design showed off the beauty of the materials picked to enhance the spa-like feel of the bathroom. Travertine was used for counter tops, shower and the tub deck. The bubble jet whirlpool tub was enriched with detailed wood cabinet trim panels as well as the two beautiful his and her vanities to match provided by Design Trilogy. These large cabinets also added extra storage space the couple had requested. Finally, two large windows adorned with plantation shutters brought natural, flowing sunlight into this desirable space.

From the bathroom, French doors swing open to the spacious view of the new dressing area. Here we find painted, large cabinets contrasted by warm wood counter tops. Extra storage space abounds.

A tailored archway leads into the stunning master bedroom complete with new hardwood floors and two 6’ French doors opening the room up to more natural light. Heavy crown molding and floor to ceiling window treatments elongate the height of the room. Cool colored paint and big, comfy furniture add to the welcoming peace of this room.
