February’s Letter

Dear friends,

Another month has passed and our time is zooming by. This past month, the camp has seen approximately 600 volunteers; a grand total of 283 homes cleaned and sanitized, 290 tree and debris jobs completed and 24 rebuild projects underway. This past week we had our largest number of volunteers in the camp at one time, 272 and 3 weeks from now we will have over 500 in camp. I now have two project managers working with me and my new title is “Construction Coordinator.”

Last month I told you about our drywall donation, this month our donations included electrical wire, insulation, paint, primer, and miscellaneous other supplies. A few crews purchased tools and left them behind for the next group of volunteers and we have had every trade available just when needed to move forward on a project. God is good.

My family is all doing well now; we had a few sick days in the last month. The little girls love their school; the big girls are OK with school (beyond school they are living large). Next week, a female youth leader will drive 9 hours to pick-up Emily and Molly to take them to Gatlinburg, TN on a youth retreat with their church and then drive 9 hours to bring them home. They get to miss 3-4 days of school, go snow skiing, and go to the youth rally, all at no cost, thanks to the pastor of Highland Hills Church of Christ. Niki is still enjoying not having to cook; and her and the little girls have found a new “donut place” (not as good as Dunkin Donuts, but it will do). Last week we went to the Mardi Gras parade in Ocean Springs, which was a blast for the girls.

We appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers, and encouragement. We hope to see some of you down here soon your help is needed.
